Welcome to The City Basket (yay!) -
a monthly paper mail club that features handpicked finds & stories from different cities, delivered fresh to your door!
What does this month taste like?
The City Basket collects and records little stories and objects around a city that might otherwise go unnoticed, inviting you to taste the city with us, in the form of a A4 folded newspaper (& other paper goodies).

We all live in (or nearby) a city but rarely we see what is around us. Sometimes the more you call a place home, the less you notice what is there around. Slow down, have a sip of tea, have a look. Enjoy the warmth of paper in your hands and discover what this month has in store for us!
The City Basket includes:

The main city of each month will be Helsinki, with a rotating special guest city every three months.
It will be mailed in a 16.2 × 22.9 cm bright blue envelope.

The recipient receives 3 or 6 or 12 monthly issues. Automatically ends when the period is finished.

I have always been drawn to observing things around me as I wander through the city. Somehow, it gives me so much joy in spotting random happenings and fragments of the city that are not loudly announced — something quiet and normal. And I like collecting these things — the shape of clouds, the funny lettering on a building, a chair in the park. I photograph, sketch, or simply try to remember them. The City Basket grew out of this habit of noticing and collecting. Every month, I gather a small selection of things that caught my eye and turn them into printed matter you can keep. To me, it is much more valuable and permanent than anything digital could offer when you hold something physical in your hands. We are then not just looking and scrolling past, but feeling the tactility of a design object. The City Basket is an invitation to you to notice and record things on your own. Have a look, have a taste ♡
